INFAMOUS AMERICANS

The most infamous of all Americans is Benedict Arnold.  He was an American General during the Revolutionary War which began in 1775.  In 1776, as you know, we declared our independence.  The War went on until 1783.  In 1780, Arnold was in charge of the fort at West Point, NY.  Being upset that he was passed over for promotion and had not received commendation for his achievements, he plotted to surrender the fort to the British.  When the plot was uncovered, he switched sides and became a British General.  His crime was treason according to the Constitution which was written after his crime.  Treason is the highest crime against the Country.  He's the reason you wont find the name Benedict used much in this country.  Be loyal!
