On this date in 1899, the Bayer company registered the name of its new medicine called Aspirin. Aspirin is truly a wonder-drug. It is used to relieve pain, headaches, inflammation, fever and, in low doses, as an anti-platelet. If taken in large doses for too long, it can cause stomach problems.
I take a low dose aspirin every day - 81mg. That's a pretty small part of the 40,000 tons sold every year.
The chemical name for aspirin is acetylsalisylic acid (ASA). So, you see, I 'drop some acid' regularly. Every 'flower child' of the '60s will tell you, if you drop some acid once in awhile, it smooths out your life.
