We had a kind of 'lacrosse weekend'. We saw a game each day. The sport seems very foreign, very yuppy...but it's is interesting. Lacrosse was developed in Canada. Crosse is a French word for stick. Players carry around their sticks and try to hurl a hard rubber ball into a net guarded by the other team's goalie. Ten players are on the field for each team; along with a goalie, there are three defensemen, three midfielders and three attackers. The defensemen stay on their half of the field as do the attackers...the midfielders have the run of the place. The play looks a lot like hockey on grass - you could figure this since the Canadians made up the rules. The little basket on the end of the stick will hold the ball but it can easily be knocked out and that's what the defenders try to do...they hit your stick with their stick...too bad if your head gets in the way.
Okay, that's about all I know. I gave Evan a few pointers during the half-time of Andrew's game on Saturday. He had at least three goals on Sunday. Both are verrrrrry good.
:-) Check it out!
