Well, we're down to the final four and the State of Kentucky if not the whole country is in a tither. In business, at least, I try to stay neutral in these things.
Midweek, I traded e-mails with a customer located in Louisville who I have known for ten years or more. He's a real nice guy and we usually talk only about four times a year - never about sports, as I recall. We missed each other's calls this week and settled for e-mails. He ended up sending me a nice order for about $8,000.00. On the e-mail to which he attached his order, he put on the bottom, "Who are you picking this weekend?"
I was in a rush but tried to be diplomatic and honest. I replied, "Thanks, for the order. I wish U of L would win it all but I think UK will beat OSU in the finals." It seemed diplomatic at the time.
He never answered. I thought he would. It now strikes me that maybe he was a UK alum/fan and is pissed that I was pulling for Louisville. Just because his business is in Louisville . . . well, you get the picture. I guess it's time for me to retire.
:-)
