THINGS YOU DIDN'T NOW ABOUT ME

The first time I was ever the head coach of a team, I was in high school.  It was my parish's high school girls CYO softball team who lost their coach for some reason.  They drafted me.  The players were the same age as me.  The only memory I have of it concerned a girl named Mary Nieporte.  She was playing second base.  A ground ball hit her in the bare hand.  She fell to her knees crying.  Several other girls came to her side.  After a while, I jogged out and said, "Get up and play or get off the field."  I always did have a way with the women.  The whole team hated me after that.
