Today, the NFL starts in earnest. That's why I think it is time to once again remind myself what 'sports' is and what place it should occupy in my life.
As you grow older, it becomes clearer that each of us has some finite number of hours to spend on this Earth. Since our hours are limited, we best not waste any on trivial; insignificant or pointless time-wasters.
To me, sports are none of these things. I'm glad we've got that straight.
