EQUALITY

Many years ago, the fathers of our country wrote what they called the Declaration of Independence.  It stated boldly that we would be a free people and we were willing to fight for it.

In the "Declaration", the signers avered "We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."  

Think about this.  "All men are created equal" is one of those phrases that we have heard so many times that it is automatically accepted as true.  Is it?  Who would think that?

Were the writers of the Declaration not aware of those born with mental impairment?  that some people are born with physical handicaps?   that some are born so sickly they will not live more than days? 

Only through human eyes are these not equal.  In God's eye, these things are taken into account - there is great value in every life - beauty in every being.  Respect every person!  The signers of the Declaration were right.  Respect life!
