On this date in 1952, I was seven years old and The Today Show was broadcast for the first time. The host of the show was Dave Garroway. Two and a half years later, NBC debuted The Tonight Show with Steve Allen as the host.
I find it amazing that these two shows go back that far. What is more amazing is that they are not the longest running shows. Meet the Press holds the record. It was first aired on November 6, 1947.
