I read something very sad this weekend and it had nothing to do with the Super Bowl or the sick ads associated with it. According to the New York Times, using the latest available statistics which are for year 2010, twenty-two (22) veterans commit suicide every day of the year. Right now, these are mostly Vietnam veterans. That's more than 8,000 per year.
These are all men; men who have lost hope or are suffering so much that they can no longer stand to live. These are men carrying the burden of guilt which our country has placed on them; men whose minds and memories have been warped by war. These are men who need help. This is sad. Pray for our veterans.
