Remove the color cartridge from your computer printer. You don't need it for 95% of the printing you do. Your printer is always using a little bit of color even if totally unnecessary. You can re-insert the cartridge when you really need it.
The color cartridge should last a lot longer. The only down side to this is you will get a message each time you print that tells you to replace the color cartridge...no big deal. A penny saved is a penny earned.
