CIRCUS

In the first half of the last century and before, the traveling circus was a big hit.  These roving events brought to Americans great fun, excitement and the shocking.  The shocking attractions were the bearded lady, the little people, the two-headed sheep, etc.  People actually paid money to see these strange sights.

Today, we've grown past that.  We're much too sophisticated for that sort of nonsense.  We stay home and tune our TVs to watch the Kardashians or the housewives of some faraway town, or a fat obnoxious child, etc.  My, my, my, aren't we proud.
