GENEVA CONVENTIONS

The Geneva Conventions are guidelines which most of the world has agreed will govern the humanitarian conduct of war.  These conventions and attending protocols cover a lot of ground but in general they protect civilians, protect prisoners of war and limit the types of weapons that can be used.  For instance, it is legal to kill your enemy with a bullet or a knife or shrapnel from an exploding bomb.  It is not legal to kill the enemy using gases or chemicals.  The United Nations is the body appointed to enforce and prosecute violations of these guidelines.

Well, a civil war is raging in Syria.  BHO warned the participants that he would not stand by and ignore the use of gases and chemicals.  Last week, he is convinced, the Syrian government used gas to kill anti-government forces they are fighting.

Today or some day this weekend, I expect that the USA will commit an act of war against the Syrian government.  I'm afraid the only real reason for doing this is to save face for BHO.  I don't think this is covered anywhere in the Geneva Conventions.  The President will tell the country that it is the humanitarian thing to do.
