Think about this.
The world consumes about 85 million barrels of oil each day. This oil is used to make gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, heating fuel, plastics, etc.
The world produces about 85 million barrels of oil each day. This is the amount of oil taken from wells and shale deposits around the world.
The price of a barrel of oil is roughly $100.
No more oil is being made. What we have is a gift that came with the planet - it was made during the Earth's formation billions of years ago. What we have is what we got. The supply cannot last forever.
It wont happen in my lifetime and maybe not yours but, someday, we wont be able to produce as much oil is we want. Everything will change.
The price of a barrel of oil, at that time, will not be $100. Those who have the oil will be in charge.
Even if we conserve oil, its still going to run out. Alternate energy sources are the answer. That said, don't force them on me before they are practical.
