I think this is fascinating; I hope you do too.  On this date in 1963, (the year I graduated from high school) the CBS Evening News TV program was lengthened from 15 minutes to 30 minutes.  The other two network's news programs (yes, there were only 3 networks) remained at 15 minutes length for some time. Not only the news, but many variety and musical shows were commonly only 15 minutes long.  I sure most people today have no recollection of 15 minute TV shows.
