RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL
9/09/2013
SEPTEMBER 9
On this date in 1942, a Japanese float plane launched from a submarine, dropped fire bombs near Brookings, Oregon. It was the first and only air raid to reach mainland America during World War II. The intention was to start forest fires. The fires were quickly extinguished and caused little damage. (I had no idea this happened until this week.)
