On this date in 1979, Fulton J. Sheen died at the age of 84. He had an hour long radio show which ran for twenty years (1930 to 1950). He moved to television with shows running in the 1950's and 1960's. Sheen won two Emmy Awards for Outstanding TV Personality. He was not a relative of Charley Sheen but a Catholic Bishop called by some the Father of TV Evangelism (no pun intended). Reruns of his shows can still be seen on EWTN, Trinity Network and heard on Relevant Radio. The process has begun to recognize Sheen through canonization to sainthood in the Catholic Church.
