On this date in 1876, Alexander Graham Bell made the first successful telephone call by saying, "Mr Watson, come here, I want to see you." I think Thomas Watson, Bell's assistant, had an iPhone and was either playing Candy Crush at the time or trying to download some pictures onto Instagram.
