This is the birth date in 1890 of Ho Chi Minh.  He was the President of North Vietnam from 1945 (my birth year) until his death in 1969.  A communist revolutionary, he led the North against the French and defeated them in 1954.  It was his push to unite the North and South of Vietnam into one communist country that we chose to oppose in our ill-fated war in the 1960's and 1970's.  In the end, his dream was fulfilled and the capitol city of South Vietnam is now called Ho Chi Minh City.
