JUNE 16

On this day in history, we feature American businesses.

June 16, 1903 Ford Motor Company was incorporated.  Henry Ford's little auto business now has assets exceeding $200 billion and employs in excess of 180,000.

June 16, 1911 IBM was founded.  It is the International Business Machines Corporation.  In 1911, that meant adding machines and typewriters - now, of course, computer hardware and software.  Thomas Watson and Charles Flint's little business now has assets exceeding $125 billion and employs in excess of 430,000.

June 16, 1977 Oracle Corporation was founded.  Larry Ellison, Bob Miner, and Ed Oates' were co-founders of this computer hardware and software company.  Ellison has been the CEO for it's entire history.  He was ranked, in 2008, the highest paid executive in the world.  Their little business has assets of over $81 billion and employs over 120,000.

If you intend on starting a business, today would be a good day.
