RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

WHEN I WAS A KID

When I was a kid, I loved to chew on grass.  I'm talking about ordinary field grass, in case you were wondering.

If you allow grass to grow without cutting, it produces a stem or culm which grows out of a sheaf.  This stem holds the seeds which produce new grass plants.  Well, the stem can be pulled out of the plant and it's bottom is fleshy and juicy.  I loved chewing on them in the Summer.

I know, a dog could have peed on it.  So what?  You chew on grass, eat a little dirt, play in a swamp polluted with chemicals and you grow up like me - not allergic to anything.  I believe in it.
