On this date in 1945, my birth year, just after the official end of World War II, Chinese Communists killed a Baptist minister who doubled as an American intelligence officer named John Morrison Birch. Thirteen years later, in 1958, an anti-communist organization was formed in the U.S. which espoused limited government and chose as it's name The John Birch Society in his honor.
