SUNDAY SERVICE

This week we have another parable from Matthew's gospel.  A king invited many people (rich friends, probably) to his son's wedding feast.   When everything was ready for the feast, he sent his servants to get the invited guests but they wouldn't come.  (I never turn down an invitation to a wedding - I love 'em)  Not only did they refuse to come, they treated the servants badly.  The king sent his soldiers to take care of those ungrateful people.

He then sent the servants into the countryside to invite whoever they found.  They filled the wedding hall and saved the king's son the embarrassment of knowing no one wanted to come to his wedding.  But, when the king looked around the hall, some of the guests weren't dressed properly for a wedding feast.  He had them thrown out into the cold.

So what does all this mean?  1. Many are called but few are chosen.  2. When the king calls, don't turn him down.  3. Don't expect to go to the feast if you're not ready.

You are called.  Be ready!
