MY DAD part 12

Dad was a very healthy guy.  He loved to walk; especially in his later years.

He had an emergency in the late 1950's that landed him in the hospital for several days.  It was a blood clot in his lower leg.   Don't know how he got it.  Too much standing on his feet all day at work, I presume.

In the 1970's, he had balloon angioplasty in a cardiac artery.  This procedure was somewhat rare at that time.  A year later, he had to have it redone.  Twenty years later, he had cardiac bypass surgery.

Dad got a terrible case of shingles in the 1990's.  He suffered for over a year with the pain.

Near the turn of the century, Dad had to have prostate removal surgery.  He had suffered with the effects of enlarged prostate for several years.  He didn't come through the surgery very smoothly.  They had difficulty stopping the bleeding.

The beginning of his final downfall was a fall on the ice on his front porch.  He hit the back of his head on a step corner.  The hospital kept him under observation for two days to see if they could detect internal bleeding.  It didn't show up for a week.  He was up and down after this for two or three years until he died. The doctors never had a specific diagnosis but the root of the problem was his body was not producing enough blood.
