CHRISTMAS

Today we honor Saint John Neumann in our country.  This German-born bishop of Philadelphia established the first Catholic diocesan school system in the U.S.

This is also the Twelfth Day of Christmas.  I am your true love.  Like the drums of a band maintain the beat of the music, may you always march to the clear, steady beat of your own drummer.

Tonight is the famous Twelfth Night.  In many parts of the world, it marks the ending of the Christmas season and the time to party and share gifts.  It is also the name of one of  Shakespeare's great plays . . . a comedy based on misplaced love ending on this festive occasion.
