In today's Gospel reading, we find the story of Peter the Apostle's introduction to Jesus. His name was Simon when he was first introduced to Jesus. Jesus, on meeting him, immediately said "Thou art Peter (which meant rock) and upon this rock I will build my church." They name stuck.
After Jesus' death, all the Apostles went to different lands to teach about Jesus. Peter went to Rome and established the Christian church there.
