WHEN I WAS A KID

When I was a kid and it was March, I would be out trying to fly a kite.  I don't see kids doing that much these days and not just because there's a foot of snow on the ground.

Our local pony keg (that's what we called a carryout) handled kites and string and kite winders.  The only thing we had to add was the tail (kites wont work without a good tail).  I was lucky to have a field I could run and get my kite into the air.  (Flying a kite takes a lot of running if there's not much wind.)  Oh, they still ended up in a tree or wrapped around a telephone wire but it was great fun.

Okay kids, as soon as the snow is gone, get out there and fly a kite.
