SUNDAY SERVICE

Today is Corpus Christi Sunday.  The Latin words Corpus Christi translate to the Body of Christ.

This feast harkens us back to Holy Thursday - the day before Jesus was crucified.  Jesus and His Apostles gathered on that day to enjoy the traditional meal for the Jewish feast of Passover.  It was at this meal that Jesus offered bread and wine to His guests and told them, after blessing it, that it was His body and blood. It is this act that is the central part of our Mass - today and every day.  He ended with "Do this in memory of me."   And we do.
