RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

SUNDAY SERVICE

Today's first reading, from the Old Testament Book of Amos, sums up the theme for today.  In it, the head holy man in Bethel (and his king) got a little ticked at Amos for preaching and prophesying in his territory - he told him to go back where he came from and leave his people alone.   Amos replied (in essence), "Don't blame me.  I was just a shepherd and farmer.  God told me to do this."

The point is:  God does not call only those 'you might think' to publicly do His work.  Just regular old (and young) farts are asked too. . . people like me and you.
