Tomorrow night we will have a very rare heavenly show. Our Moon is at its apogee right now. That means that it is the closest to the Earth that is ever gets in its orbit - 30,000 miles closer than at the furthest point (the apogee). This is called the "Super Moon".
The Super Moon will appear 14% larger and 30% brighter than at its apogee. To top this off, those of us in the eastern US will be thrilled to know the Earth will come in a direct line between the Sun and our Moon. That is an eclipse. The Sun's rays will only bend around the Earth to reflect off the Moon. It will be quite a show just after sundown. Hope we have a clear night. Don't miss it.
