MOLA MOLA

When kids go fishing, they are often thrilled by the catch of bluegills and sunfish.  They are relatively small lake fish - easy to catch.  I was surprised to find out that a sunfish could be something else.

The mola mola is the sunfish of the ocean.  It is the heaviest bony fish in the world.  The largest weigh 2200 lbs and are up to 5'9" long.  Huge!  Their only predators are whales, sea lions and sharks.

Don't snag one of these with your fishing pole.
