When I was a kid, there was a guy in the neighborhood named Marty Ferris. He was a year behind me in school but I knew him pretty well.
The year I was a senior in high school, his mother asked mine if I would tutor him in geometry. I had taken plain and solid geometry and algebra II when I was a sophomore and aced them all. My mom volunteered me.
I went to his house once or twice a week for a few months. They paid real money. It was my first try at tutoring. I have no idea if I did very well but I guess he passed.
He had a lot of BS and that would take him far. He became the City Service Director of our city not long after he got out of school.
