MOVIE REVIEW

Went to see Bridge of Spies yesterday.  It is a Steven Spielberg movie starring Tom Hanks.  I recommend it.

The show is a historical drama concerning Francis Gary Powers, a U.S. Air Force pilot who crashed his U-2 spy plane on a mission over the USSR during the Cold War in 1960 - an incident I remember distinctly.  Powers was captured, tried and convicted of espionage by the Soviets.

Previous to this, a Russian spy, Colonel Rudolf Abel,  was captured in the United States.  The whole story is told through the eyes of Abel's attorney (Hanks) who unsuccessfully defended the Russian in American courts and then was coerced by the CIA into brokering a man-for-man trade with the Russians at a time when the wall separating East and West Berlin had just been built.

Hanks is a pro.  Very well done!
