RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

SUNDAY SERVICE

There's an interesting story in Luke's gospel this week.  Jesus was teaching in the Temple early in his public life when someone told him to perform miracles here like they heard he had in other places.  Jesus said in reply that no prophet is accepted in his native land.  He gave several examples from Scripture.  He further told them not to expect that he would do anything special in his home town.

Well, they got totally ticked off at this.  In essence, they ran him out of town.

I think Jesus was actually referencing his future relationship with the Jewish people.  He came as a Jew but the Jews never accepted him as their savior.  Of course, he knew this would happen.  So, he gave his message to everyone - including you.
