Great Gospel reading this Sunday from Luke. To paraphrase Jesus in this story, "Don't sweat the small shit." That is such good advice for us.
Jesus visited a home in which there lived two sister's: Martha and Mary. There was big excitement and lots to do for their special guests. Jesus traveled with his Apostles, of course. Martha was running herself crazy making sure the house was clean and that everyone was comfortable and had something to eat and drink. Mary, on the other hand, sat near Jesus and listened intently to his every word.
After a while, Martha comes to Jesus and asks him to tell Mary to "get off her lazy ass and help." Jesus said in a Brooklyn accent, "Don't worry about it. Mary is doing what is most important."
We all choose what we do in life. We make choices every day. Make sure that what you choose is most important. There is nothing more important than getting to know God.
p.s. Okay, we may not be using the same Bible translation but the thought is the same.
