RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

WHEN I WAS A KID

When I was a kid, there were only two radio stations that played pop music in Cincinnati - both AM stations.   The two were WSAI (1360) and WCPO (1230).  WLW (700) and WKRC (550) played music for old folks.  WCKY (1530) played country music.  That's all the stations you could receive in the day time.  There were no talk or news/talk stations - that craze didn't hit until the 1970's or 80's.  Understand, also, that there were no FM stations to speak of.  Home and car radios didn't receive FM stations and tape recorders were not available at all.
