On this date in 1929, it was a Thursday (forever known as Black Thursday), the stock market crashed beginning the Great Depression.  The 'Depression' lasted a full ten years and effected the entire world.
Really, it was World War II that pulled us completely out of the financial fix we were in.  The bubble that broke in 2008, when some of us lost half our wealth, was just a small taste of what happened 87 years ago.  The stark truth is - it could happen again.
