On this date in 1995, O.J. Simpson was acquitted of murder in the death of his wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. I remember exactly where I was when the news flash came.
I had rented a luxury Continental with a built in phone (that was big at the time) at the Detroit Airport to escort a group of prospective buyers of our division of Price Brothers. They were from Waco, Texas. I showed them around our various facilities in Michigan. We were on the freeway between Detroit and Saginaw. I wasn't sure how to react when the news interrupted quiet music on the car radio. I didn't want to offend a prospective buyer.
Pretty much, the car went silent. They probably felt the same way I did.
. . . twenty-one years ago today.
