RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

Xavier lost a tough one at Butler last Saturday.  It is very difficult to beat a conference opponent on their court.  They lost another on Monday, the MLK holiday, with me in attendance.  Creighton Univ., their opponent, lost their point guard for the season during the game. It was the third straight loss for X; all to top twenty teams.  It's not time to panic.

The Bearcats dispatched East Carolina on Sunday in a lackluster effort. They came back on Wednesday to beat Temple at home for their ninth straight win.  It was their 19th straight win at home.

The Bengals have three players in the Pro-Bowl being played the weekend before the Super Bowl; Andrew Whitworth, Carlos Dunlap and Geno Adkins.  AJ Green was voted into the game but has pulled out due to injury.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have the best record in the NHL.  Hottest team right now is the Washington Capitols.

I think the story of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell avoiding the New England Patriots is hilarious. Goodell carried on an ill-advised vendetta in the courts against Tom Brady and the Pats over the deflated balls incident last year.  Its for this reason I hope he has to award the Super Bowl Trophy to Patriots owner Robert Kraft and the Super Bowl MVP trophy to Tom Brady three weeks from Sunday.

Yesterday, the UC dance team again won a national championship at the cheer and dance competition.  Here is a video of their winning performance.
