RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

The Super Bowl was good.  Not the best Super Bowl game ever - but interesting.  I got my wish with the commish handing the trophies to Robert Kraft and Tom Brady.  If you have seen the word GOAT after Brady's name and wondered what that was all about - it stands for Greatest Of All Time.

Why are the Patriots so good?

  • The guy who scored three touchdowns, two rushing and one receiving, is named James White - he is the Pats third-string running back.
  • No one on their defense had more than four tackles - eleven guys had a tackle.
  • Oh yeah, they have the best quarterback.

UC and XU basketball seasons coming to a close.  Each has it's last big test of the regular season this weekend.

I follow four different local podcasts on sports:  the best is The Skinny Podcast from Local 12.

The Vegas odds on major league baseball have hit the boards.  The Reds are 200-1 to win the World Series - no team is worse than that.  They are 100-1 to win the National League pennant - no team is worse than that.  The bookies have named the Cubs and the Red Sox as favorites with Chicago favored to win it all - again.

More on sports betting:  one person, by phone, bet $1.1 million on the Falcons to win the Super Bowl.  The official figures go like this:  Las Vegas sports books received bets totaling $138.5 million on the game.  The books won $10,937,826.00 or 7.9%.  A good day for Vegas.
