He was the brother-in-law and business partner of Henry Probasco - that's who. Henry was quite a guy. He was into nuts and bolts and hinges and nails and the like - he was a big time hardware magnate. He was rich for the his time. He lived in a big house in Clifton that still stands and is on the National Register of Historic Buildings. There is also a beautiful fountain on the grounds of that house.
Anyway, when Tyler died Henry took a business trip to Germany and while he was there he commissioned the fountain to be cast of bronze and sent to Cincinnati to memorialize his good friend. The fountain was called The Genius of Waters - the Tyler Davidson Memorial. He donated it to the city and it was placed in the center of town.
The fountain is beautiful - one of our most recognizable features. To the best of my knowledge, kids haven't put soap in it in years.
