WEEKEND LITURGY

LOVE!  It's all about love this weekend.  I love it because that is what I believe.  Love God and love your neighbor as yourself - that's what it's all about.

In a reading from the Acts of the Apostles, we learn that some Jews were upset because some of the Apostles and disciples were baptizing gentiles (non-Jews).  They were sure that the Messiah had come to lead and save the Jewish nation.  Gentiles and Jews were like blacks and whites in our country 100 years ago.  Jews were shocked "lowly gentiles" were becoming part of The Way that Jesus had taught.

In a beautiful reading written by John the Evangelist, he instructs that we must love one another just as God has loved us by sending His Son and Jesus had loved us by giving up his life.  There is no greater love than this.

In John's gospel passage, Jesus teaches the message that is re-iterated in Acts and John's Epistle. Love one another as I have loved you.  It is with faith in God and this message that I believe that all who truly live a life of love will find their way to Heaven.  Love one another.
