On this date we have reached the midpoint of the year, the 183rd day; 182 down and 182 to go. 

On this date in 1976, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam was formed when the North and the South were made one.  Over fifty-eight thousand Americans died trying to prevent this from happening.  Another one hundred fifty thousand were hospitalized with wounds from the war.  So sad.
