It was on this date in 1965, the President Johnson, on the recommendation of Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara, ordered a huge buildup of forces in Vietnam. I received my draft notice in October - passed a physical in November and left for Ft. Knox, KY in December.
I have a special place in my heart for this date. 😏
