THE WORD THIS WEEKEND

This weekend we celebrate the second Sunday of Advent.  We will hear Luke's gospel, chapter 3, about John the Baptist.  He preached Baptism as a doorway to following the Savior.  Through this baptism, we repent for our sins.  It is a doorway and a preparation - just like Advent is the preparation for Christmas - for the coming of Jesus.  Think about that, this weekend.

Today, December 8, is a special day for the Catholic Church. This date is chosen to celebrate the mother of Jesus.  In that she is the one who carried and gave birth to Him, human and God, she must also have been without sin.  It is called the Immaculate Conception - unlike all of us, she was must have been born without sin and not in need of baptism.

All of your prayers are directed to God but, once in a while, it is a good idea, to ask Jesus' mother to pray to Him for you.  She surely has some pull.

HAIL MARY, FULL OF GRACE, THE LORD IS WITH THEE.  BLESSED ARE THOU AMONG WOMEN AND BLESSED IS THE FRUIT OF THY WOMB.  HOLY MARY, MOTHER OF GOD, PRAY FOR US SINNERS - NOW, AND AT THE HOUR OF OUR DEATH.  AMEN!
