RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

THE WORD THIS WEEKEND

This weekend at Catholic mass we will hear Luke's version of the Transfiguration story.  Jesus took Peter, James and John with him high up to the peak of Mount Tabor.  There he was transfigured into the godly being that he is and he is seen with Moses and Elijah.  Matthew and Mark also describe this event in their gospels.  John refers to it in his gospel.

Let's think about the going up part of the story.  The three chosen Apostles took quite a journey with Jesus.  It was surely a difficult climb on foot.  Think now, about Lent being a journey with Christ.  Do it well - and reach the heights.  Do it well - and see Jesus as God.

The three Apostles no doubt shared their experience with their friends.  This event prepared the Apostles for the time after Jesus seemed no longer to be with them.  Be prepared.
