PIECE OF THE PEI

Two weeks ago a man died at the age of 102.  I've known his name for years because I am a crossword puzzle enthusiast.  His last name fits beautifully into three-letter spots.  His work fits beautifully into the world.  His name is I. M. Pei.  The I stands for Ieoh and the M is for Ming.

Mr Pei was a Chinese-American architect.  Born in Guangzhou, China, he had become an American citizen. His work is world renowned.  If you never heard of him, you will wonder why.

Here is a list of some of his most memorable work:

The John F. Kennedy Library/Museum in Boston
The National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
The Louvre Pyramid in Paris, France
Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar
Indiana University Art Museum in Bloomington
Bank of China tower in Hong Kong
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland

The world will miss him.
