QUOTES

Henry van Dyke Jr. was an author, poet, educator and Presbyterian clergyman prominent in the U.S. at the turn of the 20th century.  He wrote a Christmas novel "The Other Wise Man" in 1896 - beautiful story.  A wealth of wonderful quotations are attributed to him.  Here is a poem even those adverse to this style should like.

Time is
Too slow for those who wait
Too swift for those who fear
Too long for those who grieve
Too short for those who rejoice
But for those who love,
Time is not.

Here is a quotation which makes me love this man forever. (Have you heard me sing?)

"Use what talents you possess:  the woods would be very silent
if no birds sang there except those that sang best."
