RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

6/17/2019

JUNE 17

On this date in 1994, I was at a bar in Middletown, Ohio where my son was about to perform on stage with a rock band for the first time (he was 19).  All the other members of the band were old enough to be in the bar.

As the band was setting up their equipment and tuning their instruments, a loud murmur came from the far side of the bar where a large TV could be seen.  Soon, everyone migrated to that area and were mystified by what was taking place on the screen.  One Orenthal James (OJ) Simpson was in a white Bronco SUV being chased, at very slow speeds, by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).  It started just before 9 pm and lasted until almost 11 pm our time.  It didn't ruin the band's show but did take the shine off of it.

I'll never forgive O.J.

Twenty-five years ago today!
