THE TEMPLES OF DAMANHUR

Have you heard of Damanhur?   There is a city in Egypt with this name which, in ancient times, was the capital of southern Egypt.  That's not where the temples are.  They are in Italy and are one of the most amazing things I've ever seen - maybe the Eighth Wonder of the World.

A young boy named Oberto Airaudi, from Turin in northern Italy, had a vision of great caverns in the foothills of the Italian Alps.  In 1975, when he was 25, he and a group of his friends established a New Age commune there - and, in a few years, started digging.  They dug a huge excavation, 100 feet deep, he called it the Temple of Humankind.  Then they dug more underground halls and then dug some more.  By the time he was done, they had constructed seven separate halls as part of the temple.

Not until 1992 did anyone outside the commune become aware of what was being built.  The artisans among his followers, which had increased dramatically, painted and adorned the halls, each for a specific purpose.  Here are the caverns they built and decorated;  Hall of Water, Blue Hall, Hall of Earth, Hall of Metals, Labyrinth Hall, Hall of Spheres and Hall of Mirrors.  Each hall is dedicated to a different principle.  They are all gorgeous.

Airaudi died in 2013.  I can't do justice to all they have built.  For best results, I urge you to visit  www.thetemples.org on a computer with large screen and take the virtual tour.  Here is one shot of the Hall of Mirrors.
