MIDWEEK PRAYER

Almighty God, who, in our Declaration of Independence,
we have called Creator, Supreme Judge and Divine Providence,
thank you for the many blessings you have bestowed on our country.
Again, this week, we ask you to bless our nation. 
Stand at our side and guide us through perils of this world.
Keep us on the path which our forefathers struck.
Inspire all our leaders to be true to the document we made 243 years ago.
May we always remember that it ended with the following unifying line:
"And for the support of this declaration,
with a firm reliance on Divine Providence,
we mutually pledge to each other
our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor."
Today, we pray and affirm that we rely on you.
